My Team
My team and I have been given the opportunity to develop a new service line, project management. It’s an exciting endeavor because I can apply my experience in different roles. Over the years I’ve gained the knowledge to create new systems and processes and work with a new group of people. We have been building our team with members who have hands-on field experience remodeling large locations and building new stores from the ground up and even engineered new attractions at Walt Disney World.
Our group is focused on large, complex issues our customers experience and we work to simplify them by identifying the right long-term solutions. We put our customers' concerns above sales and provide them with top-quality maintenance solutions while supporting them through large scale project management. As a new team there will be a lot of learning along the way. However, with dedication and the right people, I am confident that this new service line will be an enormous success and a win for all at Lessen!
Lessens Learned
As early as I can remember, I was raised to know and appreciate how to fix things on my own. My mother was a single mom living in New Jersey who could replace a toilet, floor tiling, or even outlets. During my childhood, my father was an architect and residential home builder. I enjoyed seeing what was being built at the construction sites where he worked. By high school, I would do small jobs for him on the sites until my brother and I began our own subcontracting company. At that time, my father owned a maintenance company and hired us for a lot of the work. Later I joined SMART Services, one of his businesses, as a customer service representative years before selling the business to SMS Assist.
My decade-long journey with SMS Assist was life-changing. My family and I moved halfway across the country to Chicago for the opportunity to be a part of a small business looking to rapidly grow. I can remember when we had less than 20 employees sitting in an office on Hubbard and State! Through my experience in many various roles and joining forces with our technology team, we grew the company to a thousand. It’s been an amazing ride so far, and I look forward to being a part of the next chapter now with Lessen.
